Healthy Hair: 5 Natural Recipes

5 Hair Recipes
Chances are you already have a natural product or two on hand that will beautify your hair and be safe to use. It's likely the products will work well, with noticeable results and be affordable. And if you don't feel like using the products on your hair, you can always eat them. Following are the recipes.

5 Healthy Hair Recipes:

1 - To Add Shine and Moisture - Make a mask with molasses (or maple syrup or honey) - Use 1/2 cup of molasses and apply directly to towel-dried hair. Massage thoroughly into scalp and hair. Cover with a shower cap. Leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Shampoo as usual. 

2 - To Give Flat, Lifeless Hair Body - Use baking soda - Lifeless and flat hair often means product buildup. Baking soda will remove the buildup. Using a natural shampoo (I like Dr. Bonner's), mix your normal amount of shampoo in the hand with a few teaspoons of baking powder. Massage into hair and scalp as you normally would with shampoo. Rinse and condition as usual. 

3 - To Smooth Dry and Frizzy Hair - Use rosemary to make thin hair stronger and fuller - Rosemary strengthens hair and aids in the growth of new hair. To make - Warm over low heat, a cup of olive oil with a few rosemary sprigs. Let cool then massage into the scalp. Leave oil on the scalp for at least 15 minutes. Wrap with a warm towel. Shampoo as usual. Or -
Use with lavender. To make - Warm 1/2 cup olive oil over low heat. Remove from heat and add 10 drops of essential lavender oil. Apply to damp hair while still warm and massage into scalp. Cover hair with shower cap for 20 minutes. Shampoo as usual. 

4 - To Smooth Dry and Frizzy Hair - Use olive oil and avocado - Dry, frizzy hair needs moisture. Both olive oil and avocado have hydrating benefits. To make - use 1/4 cup olive oil and a 1/2 of a mashed avocado. Blend until smooth and creamy. Apply to dry hair and massage into hair and scalp. Wrap with a warm towel for 20 minutes. Rinse and shampoo as usual. 

5 - To Soothe an Itchy, Flaky Scalp - Use vinegar and mint - When the pH balance of the scalp is not balanced and is too acidic, apple cider vinegar (ACV) will provide balance and remove dead flakes. Make a rinse - mix 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup ACV, a few mint sprigs and heat until warm. Let steep for 10 minutes. Pour into a bottle and chill. When ready to use, pour on and massage thoroughly into scalp and hair - the whole bottle - leave for 20 minutes. Then shampoo and condition.
